Marilyn Rabinowitz

Having lived in Zimbabwe and South Africa most of my life and in Australia for the past 19 years I have been exposed to vastly different peoples and cultures.  My artworks naturally express a mixture and interweaving of the colours, flora, fauna, designs, symbols and energy of these places, and the memories and emotions they evoke.

 

My work is generally abstract.  As an Art Therapist I am acutely aware of the power of symbolism and prefer not to give my artworks titles, since this already suggests an idea.  I prefer the viewer to observe the artworks through his/her own lens and find a personal message or meaning that speaks to them.  I am constantly delighted by the varied nature of the responses I receive from different people towards the same painting.
